Sri.Chintamani Narasimha Temple
Sri.Chintamani Narasimha Temple situated on the banks of the Koodala Sangama of Tunga and Bhadra river at Koodli, Shimoga District is a Hoysala temple.
Devi Chaudamma temple at Sigandur This place is located in the other side of backwater of river Sharavathi ( before Jog falls ). To reach this place people have to come to the main city Sagar. Sagar is nearly 350Kms from Bangalore city. Frequent buses are available from Bangalore to Shimoga city and to Sagar.
The goddess Chaudamma ( Chowdamma ) temple is located at Sigandur. During Sankranti ( in the month of January ) a festival is celebrated here. Tourist from all part of India visit this place during the festival. People offer goat and chickens to full fill their wishes during this festival.
The temple priest gives a cupper and brass tag to the devotes for nominal fee. There is a belief that on wearing this tag belonging will not be stolen from houses.
Sri Rameshwara Temple Sri Rameshwara Temple located in Thirthahalli is one of the main Hindu Temples. This temple is constructed on the banks of the river Tunga and it is made of stone.
Sri Rameshwara Temple is near the place Parashurama Thirtha. The sanctum sanctorum of the temple has a Shiva Lingam which is believed to have been installed by Parashurama.
The day Parashurama cleaned his axe to remove the sesame-sized (Ellu in Kannada language) blood stain; was Amavasye (New Moon Day) of Margashira month in the Hindu calendar. That particular day is termed as Ellu-Amavasye (also called Ellamavasye) day and every year on this day a fair termed as Ellu Amavasya Jatre is celebrated at great devotion in Thirthahalli.
