About

Gopi Krishna (1903-1984) was a yogi, mystic, teacher, social reformer, and writer from India. He popularized the concept of Kundalini among Western readers and authored the autobiography "Kundalini: The Evolutionary Energy in Man" (later renamed "Living with Kundalini"). His experiences with Kundalini awakening led him to believe in the evolution of human consciousness. He wrote extensively on mystical experiences and the biological mechanism of Kundalini. Gopi Krishna also advocated for women's rights and worked to improve the conditions of widows in India. He authored several books on higher consciousness and poetry.
